ABOUT THE MOUNT ZION YOUTH SOCIETY (MZYS)

The Mount Zion Youth Society is the youth Arm of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOCS). Click here to visit the ESOCS Church website. It is an organisation of ESOCS youths made up of male and female members of the ESOCS Church. It is a body set up to train the youths of the ESOCS Church to live the regenerated, Christ-centred Christian life of a Spirit-filled child of God, mobilise and galvanise them into a productive force for the growth/development of the Church and for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide. They are charged with the responsibility to organise the Tuesday and Sunday Bible Classes, Thursday midweek service, to reach out to the broken hearted through their visitations to Hospitals, Prisons, motherless babies/other less privileged people and preach the gospel in all parts of the earth through Open-Air services, Rural Rugged programmes and Campus outreaches.

At the apex of the body is the Coordinator and the executives of MZYS International. This is followed by the zones/CMCs headed by a Zonal/CMC Cordinator and then, the Provincial Chapters headed by a President with his executives. Below the Provincial level, there is a District level. At the District level there is a MZYS District Chairman with his executives. Under them, there are MZYS groups at the branches level, which is also governed by a Branch Chairman. To explain this better, The Mount Zion Youth Society International is the body that governs and regulates the activities of all MZYS groups in all the countries of the World as well as Universities where MZYS Student?s Evangelical Fellowships have been inaugurated. Each country has one or more provinces and CMCs. A CMC is a collection of many provinces while these provinces are made up of Districts and Branches.

The MZYS was the brain child of the 6th Prelate of the ESOCS Church, His Most Eminence, The Baba Aladura, Late Elder Godfrey Itse Mene Otubu. He had a vision to create a platform for learning, growth and development, upon which the youths of the ESOCS Church can build on to enlarge their evangelical coasts. He had a vision for a body that will train/mentor the youths and give these youths the chance to use their gifts for the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ. To kick off this vision, He convened the first youth conference of the ESOCS youths at the Owerri Provincial Conference. Its purpose was to establish the MZYS. He convened the said convention so as to actualize his vision to formally establish the youth arm of the Church, which he named the Mount Zion Youth Society (MZYS). By this, Owerri province became the first province of the MZYS to be inaugurated and also remains the first Host of the Baba Aladura International Youth Conference. After this, as the Light of the MZYS continued to be lit across all other provinces of the Church, MZYS came to be inaugurated in all provinces of the church within and outside Nigeria and in most Nigerian Universities and polytechnics. With the Inauguration of MZYS in the provinces of the ESOCS church which are located outside Nigeria, MZYS International was born. Elder G.I.M. Otubu released her first bye law, stating the structure of the group and the responsibilities of her excos in 1996. He also appointed His Eminence, Elder Harold Demuren as the Pioneer International Coordinator of the MZYS. Snr. Ap. Ume-Ezoke was also appointed to assist him.

The MZYS has continued to hold International Conferences in order to continue to remind the youths of the reasons behind their formation and to review the extent to which the MZYS has been able to live up to these expectations. After the first Baba Aladura international Youth Conference which held in owerri, the Baba Aladura International conference has continued to hold. After the inaugural version of the conference which held at owerri in 1996, the MZYS has organized four other Conferences of this nature in Port-Harcourt, Sapele, Lagos (2008) and Iruekpen (2010) Provinces. Another edition which held from 9th-11th Aug 2013 at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos is a great milestone in the history of the MZYS; being the first to be held under the watch and leadership of the His Eminence, Elder Isaac Bello, as well as the first for His Most Eminence, the Present of the ESOCS Church at that time, Late Elder L. A. Onyeleonu. It is also the first Youth Conference of the MZYS to be addressed by the acronym ?BAIYOC?. The MZYS deemed it fit to address the conference by this acronym, in order to make the brand more distinct and more easily advertisable. After this, more historical BAYOCS have held in 2016 in Lagos and in 2019 in Port Harcourt. The 2019 edition also came with explosive glory, being the first BAYOC to be hosted by the current Prelate of the ESOCS Church, His Most Eminence Elder (Dr.) David D.L. BobManuel. In this Year 2025, the ESOCS Church is One Hundred Years old by the special grace of God and plans to host the Centenary Edition of BAYOC 2025 in Lagos. It also promises to be yet another historical milestone, being the first BAYOC to be hosted under the watch of the current National Cordinator of the MZYS ? His Eminence, Elder Michael Eze. Today, MZYS International is a large house with a membership of over six million Youths worldwide, who are situate in the various provinces and Universities that make up the MZYS in different countries of the World. We recognize the efforts of the past Cordinators of the MZYS and hope that the good Lord will continue to take the society higher in Jesus name - Amen.
